Lions are natural ‘fast and gorge’ animals, meaning they don’t eat the same amount every day. In the wild, they may consume a large meal at once and then go without food for a period of time. To reflect these natural feeding patterns, some days our lions receive larger meals, while on other days they may be given smaller portions, such as bones with a small amount of meat.
To support their health and natural behaviors, our lions also observe regular fasting days.
